Jason May Sensei is Kaicho (founder/chief) of the Nan Sho Budo system and director of the Southern Pine Institute of Martial Arts. May Sensei began his training in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1985 with WTF Tae Kwon Do. Since beginning his martial journey, May Sensei has been fortunate to find teachers of various styles to broaden his skill set and enhance his teaching style.
May Sensei holds advanced rank in Kempo Jujutsu, Kirin Kempo, Arnis de Mano, Eishin-Ryu Iaido and Tae Kwon Do. Sensei continues his studies of Gow Ren Lu Kempo Gung Fu, Kamishin Aiki- Jitsu, Inner Wave Pencak Silat, Morin Kun Tao Silat and Tai Ji.
May Sensei is an active member of the Gow Ren Lu Kempo Gung Fu International Association, Kamishinkai International and Shuri-Te Bujutsu Kai. May Sensei has taught self-defense seminars for private corporations, worked with DOC Law enforcement and continues as a guest teacher at the annual Rocky Mountain Thunder Martial Arts conference in Denver, Colorado and annual United Martial Arts Association conference in Fort Collins, Colorado.
May Sensei earned an Associate of Arts from Guilford Technical Community College and a B.A. in Psychology, B.S. in International Business Administration and Disciplinary Honors from Lloyds International Honors College at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
